The religious right's political activities in California are being spearheaded by the Christian Coalition. The organization's California chapter sponsored a political conference in Long Beach, CA, on Nov 7, 1997, which attracted roughly 300 delegates mostly from the state. With just days before Tuesday's election, State Assembly candidate Anthony Riley's campaign is trying to undo the potential damage of a voter guide that indicates Riley - who bills himself as a conservative Republican - wants to repeal Proposition 8, the 2008 measure that bans gay marriage in California. The California Voter's Guide, released by the Orange County- based Traditional Values Coalition, reports that Riley supports a legislative resolution "in favor of homosexual marriage" and supports repealing Prop. 8.
