This recipe is recommended by Ashley Edwards of Lewiston, a registered dietitian who works for Central Maine Medical Center's weight loss surgery, and teaches nutrition classes at Hannaford's in Lewiston.
Edwards graduated from Lewiston High School and the University of Maine. When it comes to thrifty grocery shopping, junk food isn't a good buy because there's little if any nutrition value in things like chips, soda, cakes and pies, Edwards said.(Hannaford gives this 2 stars)

When it comes to ordering chili in Cincinnati, you've got to think in terms of numbers.
A two-way is chili over spaghetti. A three-way tops that with cheese. Add chopped onions or beans and you get a four-way. For a five-way, you'll need all of the above.

Do you remember when that good old hamburger, or more properly ground beef, made for a really economical meal for budget watchers? There was chili, burgers and spaghetti that could all stretch that hamburger a long way in feeding your crew. With "real" ground beef nigh onto $3 per pound, it isn't quite the budget asset that it once was.
Do you remember when East Dubuque's only police officer, and an imposing one at that, led off every Memorial Day parade for many a year? "Slim" Foht, at six-foot-plus, never had a tad of a problem with crowd control and he made quite an impression at the head of any parade.

LOCATION: Despite being on the corner of a very busy intersection, we're a little sheepish to admit we'd never noticed the place. It's semi-permanent, so take a good look next time you're at the stop light. The parking lot may not be the most aesthetic location, but under the shade of an awning and with a few chairs outside, it's not a half-bad spot.
OUR OPINION: Three little words sum up the source of our newfound love for this university-area food shack. Beef. Ortega. Melt. Paired'with the loaded baked potato soup - an opaque cream-based potato soup topped with sour cream, bacon, green onions and cheese - it makes for one nagging obsession. We also had a go at the Reuben, the homemade coleslaw and Anita's potato salad. (Anita is the owner's mother-in-law and we'd like to make a motion...

For many college students, the move into an apartment and out of the dorms means they have to feed themselves for the first time. No more meals made by Mom or the cafeteria ladies. Some students such as Gina Majestro, 19, a sophomore at WVU and an avid cook, wont suffer. Majestro comes from a long line of Italian cooks and has been preparing healthy meals at home for years. Im really excited and looking forward to it, she said. Even friends who dont cook are excited [about living in an apartment] to not be eating dorm food. Her friends might be planning to eat at Majestros apartment, but she said theyll have to fend for themselves most of the time. Theyll probably rely on microwave foods, she said. I tell them cooking isnt that hard you just follow the directions. Linda Bonasso settled...

If you look through cookbooks from the '60s and '70s, you'll find a great many recipes begin with a pound of ground beef.
Depending on the starch, sauce and veggies added, you've got anything from burgers to chili to spaghetti to meat loaf to Mystery Casserole. In fact, that was the premise of the nation's first "meal kit," General Mills' Hamburger Helper, which debuted in 1971.
