WHITTIER - A former Whittier police officer was charged Tuesday with nine counts of child molestation, officials from the District Attorney's Office said.
Paul Ayala, 42, faces eight counts of lewd acts on a child and one count of oral copulation or sexual penetration of a child under age 10, said Jane Robison, spokeswoman for the L.A. County D.A.'s office. The case involves two children.

ONTARIO - Prosecutors on Monday charged an Ontario Catholic priest with molesting a 12-year-old boy, and police say he had at least four other victims.
The Rev. Jose Alejandro Castillo, also known as Father Alex, was arrested at the home of a parishioner in the 600 block of W. Zenia Court. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $1 million bail.
