Parrot Trading Partners LLC returned more than 30% in its Calendar Condor trading program in the three-month period ending in August, a period that produced large drawdowns for many option based strategies. Jes Santaularia, managing director, says his Calendar Condor strategy, a term he coined, takes advantage of certain market inefficiencies in the pricing of options and the natural time decay of options. The basic strategy is to employ diagonal calendar spreads. Santaularia says the strategy provides an edge in the market place, as the nearby months' daily theta are generally greater than the deferred months. He says his real estate background has helped in the development of his trading program.

Red flag Business advocates blamed inventory taxes for chasing off potential employers and millions of dollars in investments because it's cheaper to locate warehouse and distribution facilities in more tax-friendly states. Close proximity to the region's array of interstates certainly is a factor, but there's no discounting the impact of the incentive, said Tom Theobald, a senior vice president and regional partner at the Indianapolis office of Chicago-based real estate developer Verus Partners LLC.
