News Advisory:
The World Jewish Congress American Section and WJC President Edgar M. Bronfman will host a special public forum entitled, "Reclaiming the UN Charter" to discuss the reform of the United Nations on Friday, September 9th at 12:30 PM, in the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel Ballroom. The event will include a keynote address by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Co-Chair of the U.S. Task Force on the United Nations, and presentations by Ambassador John Bolton, Permanent Representative of the United States to the United Nations, and Mark Malloch Brown, Chef de Cabinet to the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. A Q&A session will follow each presentation.

NORFOLK - , 50, passed away Dec. 13, 2010. He is survived by his two sons, Kevin and Kyle Carmone. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Carmone, and is survived by his mother, Constance Carmone; five brothers and sisters, Paula Garrison (Ron), Claudia Shoaf, Randy Carmone (Mary), Anita Videa (Jaime) and Daniel Carmone; and by his love and soulmate, Becky Barco Utegg.
John was a Norfolk native and a graduate of Granby High School. John owned Innovative Interiors, a custom cabinet and design business. He was also an incredible chef and took pride in his Italian gourmet creations. He loved to fish and hosted numerous cookouts with his friends and neighbors, The Leicester Social Club. John had a keen wit and always had you laughing.

In newspapers and on the Internet, stories with headlines like The Washington Post's "UN Panel Clears Annan" and the Boston Globe's "Report Clears UN chief of corruption allegations" have appeared, suggesting that the Independent Inquiry Committee headed by Paul Volcker somehow vindicated U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
But nothing could be further from the truth. The IIC report is an indictment of Mr. Annan's leadership of the United Nations. At a minimum, it raises questions about his judgement in hiring his top aide: his former chef de cabinet (chief of staff), S. Iqbal Riza, a Pakistani who suddenly announced his retirement December 22 - the very day he admitted to the panel that he shredded documents that were likely related to the scandal.

A couple of high school kids and I started a TV cooking show on the town's [North Andover, Mass.] local-access channel. We had student guests, and everything was spontaneous and funny. Once I was making ravioli, kneading the dough so vigorously that I cracked my skull on a cabinet door handle.
