Jags chartering bus to game at Benedict

I was a Scout in Troop 3 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. My father, Charles Wright, Sr. was our Scoutmaster. The largest Troop in town was Troop 2 at 1st Presbyterian Church whose Scoutmaster was Dr. William C. Menninger. When I was 12 years old the Jayhawk Area Council announced an advancement contest. pitting each Troop against the others. The winner would be the Troop that registered the most advancement during the contest. As the largest Troop, Troop 2 had an advantage, but our Troop Committee, led by Ivan Dibble, who owned Dibble Grocery Store, provided us with an incentive. They decided that if we won, we would get to spend a day in Kansas City.
