The Girl Scouts of Western Ohio in Dayton presented its 2011 Woman of Leadership Hall of Fame award to Charlotte Harris, Ed. D., Wright State University; Madonna Homan, Girl Scout volunteer; Yvonne Isaacs, Dayton Public Schools, board member; and Joyce Davis Willis, community volunteer.
The Woman of Leadership Hall of Fame Award was established in 2002 to honor exceptional women in the greater Dayton area. The recipients exemplify the spirit of Girl Scouting, are role models and problem-solvers, maintain high standards of personal conduct and are committed to the betterment of society.

Charlotte Deutch, of Buffalo, a retired secretary in the Buffalo Public Schools, died April 24 in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a brief illness. She was 88.
Born Charlotte Pliss in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Fosdick- Masten Park High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Buffalo before being hired as a secretary for the Buffalo Public Schools, where she worked for more than 20 years. She retired in 1978.

Gladys Shepperson Watson passed away quietly at her home on Saturday, January 1, 2011. Born in Roanoke, Va. on October 23, 1930, Gladys was the youngest of seven children born to the late Rawlins James and Mattie Hester Shepperson. She graduated from Lucy Addison High School, Roanoke, Va. in 1948, and went on to earn a BA degree from Virginia State University, Petersburg, Va., and a MA degree in Library Sciences from North Carolina College, Durham, N.C. She was employed by the Charlotte Mecklenburg and Fayetteville, N.C. School Systems as a Librarian, before returning to the Roanoke Public Schools, where she retired in 1990.
