ATLANTA -- Charles E. Glover, whose career took him from newspaper reporting in Dayton to a post as editor-in-chief at one of America's top media companies, Cox Enterprises, died Saturday afternoon-at Vitas Haven House hospice, in Atlanta. Mr. Glover was 79.
Chuck Glover was a role model to so many who have guided Cox's newspapers," said Jay R. Smith, president of Cox Newspapers Inc. "He taught us that a newspaper's service to readers came first. Profitability -- essential to maintaining a strong newspaper -- would follow, he said. We believed him and tried to meet the high and tough standards he always set. For no one wanted to disappoint Chuck, given the deep admiration and respect he deserved.

KETTERING -- Former Cox Enterprises chief editor Charles Edward Glover, 79, was bid farewell Thursday from Central Christian Church, where he had been a worship lay leader and elder during his years as a Dayton newspaper executive.
Familiar old hymns, including In the Garden and Just As I Am, sounded on the church's electronic organ as Glover's friends, family members and several top executives of the Cox media empire filed in for his funeral.

, age 74, of Evans, GA entered into rest suddenly on February 1, 2005. Husband of the late Margaret C. Glover; Mr. Glover was a graduate of West Virginia University and had retired from Westinghouse Corporation. He had served as an Airman during the Korean Conflict for which service he was awarded two Bronze Stars.
Memorial services were held at Elliott Sons Funeral Home, 4255 Columbia Road, Martinez, with Reverend Father John Lyons of St. Joseph Catholic Church, officiating.

Charles and Dana Glover of Goodview are proud to announce the graduation of their son, Joshua D. Glover, from Basic Military from the United States Air Force on June 17, 2011. Josh will continue his career in the Air Force as a Gunner. When he completes his technical at Lackland AFB, Josh will head to Washington State, then to Florida and finally New Mexico for his final four weeks of gunner .
