HOULTON, Maine -- A Houlton man who allegedly had 29 marijuana plants growing in the basement of his mother's house was arrested and charged with trafficking on Monday evening after she turned him in.
Houlton Police Chief Butch Asselin said Tuesday that officers responded to the home at 10 State Street after the woman complained about the marijuana growing operation. She told police she found plastic bags filled with marijuana in a black duffel bag that was being stored inside an unused dog kennel in her basement. Asselin said the woman contacted her son and informed him that she was calling the police. The son, Philip Salb, 24, apparently returned to the residence and removed the duffel bag before police arrived, Asselin said.

The Defender reported in January how Anderson's father, Nathaniel Anderson Jr., was appalled to see [Chambers] back in the classroom with his son after being arrested and charged with harming his child.
In December, Chambers was arrested and charged with reckless conduct after witnesses at CVS, 2100 E. 87th St., said they saw Chambers bending down and allegedly tying the shoes together of [Nathaniel Anderson III]. When Anderson tried to walk, he reportedly fell face forward onto the floor, sustaining some injuries.
[Michael Vaughn] told the Defender in January that CVS Principal Marie Miles allowed Chambers back into the classroom with Anderson.

A Passaic County corrections officer has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he allegedly injured a woman while driving his marked car -- with a K-9 onboard, state police said.
Brian W. Walker, 41, of Cedar Grove, was taking K-9 Thor to work- related training in Atlantic County on Monday when the incident occurred, Sheriff's Office spokesman Bill Maer said. Walker was driving south on the Garden State Parkway in Bass River Township just before 3:40 p.m. when he allegedly struck a Chevrolet Suburban, sending the SUV off the road and into trees, state police spokesman Sgt. Julian Castellanos said.

Shelby County sheriff's deputies went undercover to nab a jail guard suspected of smuggling drugs and other contraband into the Shelby County Jail.
A sting operation on Wednesday led to the arrest of Shelby County Jail correctional officer Rumeal Moore, 23, and charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and attempting to bring contraband into a penal facility.

SALT LAKE CITY -- A man accused of sexually molesting 12- and 13- year-old brothers under the pretense of "spiritually cleansing" their mother's home has been charged with multiple counts of sodomy and aggravated sex abuse against a child.
Police set up a sting to catch 22-year-old Jose David Morales- Hernandez on Wednesday when he arrived at the home of the victims believing he was going to perform what police call a voodoo ritual. He was dressed as a woman when police arrested him.

A Glen Rock man who was formerly a top executive of the online recruiting firm Monster was charged Wednesday with securities fraud that allegedly netted him $13.5 million.
James J. Treacy, 50, former president and chief operating officer of Monster's parent company, was accused of conspiring with other former senior executives to manipulate and hide the value of stock options granted to themselves and other employees between 1997 and 2003.

An alleged altercation with a cab driver over 20 cents in change put South Buffalo native and Chicago Blackhawks right winger Patrick Kane behind bars on a robbery charge early Sunday.
