The Minnesota Court of Appeals has ruled that a criminal defendant was properly convicted of second-degree murder even though his actions were directed toward the victim while she was still a fetus. Despite the defendant's argument that he lacked the requisite intent for a second-degree murder conviction because he was trying to kill an unborn child - a different crime under state law - the court said "that the distinction didn't make a legal difference," said Howard Bass of the Bass Law Firm in Burnsville, Minn. "The mere fact that a fetus is born and becomes a child doesn't insulate [defendants] from criminal culpability.

It's a vigorous sport that is probably not far different in intensity from his present job of managing the nation's investments KHAZANAH Nasional Bhd managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar likens the prowess of the Khazanah leadership team to the formidable All Blacks Rugby team from New Zealand. For a start, just as in a rugby team, it is 15- player strong. Except that Khazanah's All Blacks includes a female member in the form of Shahnaz Al-Sadat Abdul Mohsein. Pulling the strings and directing operations as team captain is Azman himself, who learnt his rugby from his alma mater, the Malay College Kuala Kangsar, which was once a rugger powerhouse and a much-feared force in Malaysian school sports.
