A majority of Dubuque County residents surveyed say Claricia M. Wilmer is definitely or probably guilty in the Sept. 1 stabbing death of a pregnant teen in downtown Dubuque.
Those findings motivated Wilmer's defense attorneys to seek a change of venue for the 28-year-old Asbury, Iowa, woman's first- degree murder trial. The request will be addressed during a hearing set for 4 p.m. March 28 in Dubuque County District Court.

Defense attorney Todd Klapatauskas said a public opinion survey is necessary to determine whether his 28-year-old Asbury, Iowa, client will receive a fair trial in Dubuque County. The survey often is used to explore whether to request a change of venue, prosecutors said.
