Merging school districts is a difficult undertaking, but so far it seems to be working out in Beaver County's Central Valley School District.
The former superintendents of Center Area and Monaca school districts, which combined this year to form Central Valley, shared their experience with school district consolidation at a public hearing the Pennsylvania Senate Education Committee held Friday at St. Francis University in Loretto.

A quarter-century later, several national companies are utilizing that "road to nowhere," just 4 miles from Stewart International Airport, including Cardinal Health, Home Depot, Byrne Dairy, Do It Best Home Improvement Products, United Parcel Service, Taylor Recycling and Con-Way Freight They and others have created jobs and tax ratables for Montgomery. In Montgomery, Valley Central School District draws 69 percent of its revenue from real property tax owners and 31 percent from commercial ratables, while the town relies on 68 percent of its homeowners and 32 percent of its commercial business for revenue.

Officials from the Rancho Cucamonga-based elementary school district sent a letter last week to parents and guardians to let them know that a student was diagnosed with the bacteria and their child may have been exposed.
