CHESAPEAKE - Joseph Crownover MacPhail Jr., 65, died peacefully at home Feb. 28, 2010 after a brief illness. Joe was born in Beloit, Wis., and he lived in this area for many years. He was the son of the late Dr. Joseph C. MacPhail Sr. and Thelma Leigh Bell MacPhail. He was a Methodist, a member of Portsmouth Rotary Club and a Civil War re-enactor and enthusiast. He was a graduate of Chowan College and University of Richmond. As owner and operator of Joseph's Cabinet Shop, he handcrafted beautiful antique reproduction furniture. He was formerly employed by Virginia National Bank and Central Fidelity Bank.
