If the U.S. Census is not accurate, then it will mean that people who are not counted will find the location they live in will receive far less of the government revenue than it should be entitled to. This is why the U.S. Census is important. It must be as accurate as possible. However, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security seems to feel that their job of "apprehending illegals" is more important than the future of the United States. Clearly there is a contradiction of priorities here between the U.S. Census and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. MALDEF is correct in calling upon ICE to not conduct anymore immigration raids until the U.S. Census is finished. How would people respond if an immigration agent is right behind the U.S. Census worker?
