The wedding of Maryglenn Williams Gust and Richard Stephen Blanks Jr. was held in Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church on October 29, 2011, at 4:00 p.m. The Episcopal service of a Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage was officiated by The Reverend Doctor David L. Dixon III and The Reverend Robert Hamner. A reception followed the wedding at BraeLoch in Vinton. Maryglenn's and Steve's parents are Mr. and Mrs. W. William Gust and Mr. and Mrs. R. Steve Blanks Sr., all of Roanoke. Maryglenn is a granddaughter of Martha Edmunds of Roanoke and Colette Gust of Washington, N.C., and the late Dr. Keith Edmunds and Lieutenant Colonel Walter S. Gust. Steve's grandparents, who lived in Williamsburg, Va., are the late Colonel R. Page and Myrtle Blanks and Commander Junius P. and Rachel Hobbs.
The marriage celebration of Ella R. Garrett and Robert A. Dilworth took place in Old Towne Petersburg Catering Company at 5 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, November 6, 2009. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Queen and Charlie Nicholson of Emporia, Va. The groom is the son of Mrs. Mary L. Dilworth and the late Ernest Dilworth Sr. of Sutherland, Va. The Rev. Redefining the concept of marriage Once again, we read of the celebration of gay "rights" activists in our morning paper (June 25 article, "New York approves gay marriage"): "We are leaders and we join other proud (emphasis mine) states that recognize our families ..." I find it particularly odd that the person quoted chose the word "families" when the relationships he celebrates cannot produce offspring.
