PORTLAND - The Portland Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the Christmas season with the "Magic of Christmas," featuring the daring feats of acrobats, the joyful sound of Christmas carols and the orchestra's holiday traditions.
From Dec. 9-18, the PSO, directed by Robert Moody, will give 11 performances of classical and popular holiday hits at Merrill Auditorium.

The children and adults who participate in programs at the Noah- Christian Community Center, operated by the Angels of Hope Outreach Ministry, gave back to the community by providing Christmas gifts to the 102 residents of Clearview Manor, an assisted living facility in Vinton.
Participants contributed hats, gloves, scarves, socks, candy and cards for the residents.

PERU -- The annual Christmas in July tradition at Worthley Pond was a huge success this year, Don Sillars, president of the Worthley Pond Association, said.
