Cattlemen's Steakhouse celebrated its grand opening today in Lindenhurst, the first of what its partners hope will be a chain of restaurants across Long Island. The Lindenhurst steakhouse has been in operation for two and a half months, said Ted Kontanis, whose partner in the business is Nick Ganaris. A second Cattlemen's is set to open in Port Jefferson in the next three weeks, Kontanis said.

Grab your boots and head out to the Cattlemen's Steakhouse Special Events Center on Tuesday for the second annual "Reds, Whites and Boots" benefit for the Sanctuary Women's Development Center. Stockyards City Main Street, Cattlemen's Steakhouse, Glazer's Oklahoma and Catholic Charities have joined to present a night of fantastic wine and food, great music and boot-scootin' fun. The evening will include dinner, an auction and estate wines from two of Napa Valley's finest women of wine: Kelly Duckhorn McElearney with Ehlers Estate and Paula Kornell with Oakville Ranch. Also on hand will be tasty local beer from Choc Brewing Co. of Krebs.

Shoppers at Stockyards City can buy custom-made cowboy hats and saddles, decorative cowboy boots and western wear, and at a new store can browse a variety of items, from western jewelry to sequined baseball caps and sunglasses for dogs. The Stockyards Mercantile opened in April across the street from the area's mainstay, Cattlemen's Steakhouse.

After spending many years in developing Cattlemen's Steakhouse as one of the most successful restaurants in the entire state of Oklahoma, Dick Stubbs is eager to re-create that success with the opening of his second full-service restaurant in the Stockyards City district. Stubbs is in the midst of putting the finishing touches on the new eatery that will be known as The Country Fare specializing in what he describes as ranch house-style dining.
