SPRINGBORO -- One of the Miami Valley's more interesting fundraisers is set to take place Saturday night when the American Cancer Society presents Dayton's fourth annual Cattle Baron's Ball. Often a beautiful private home in the area plays host to the upscale event featuring guests dressed in fancy western attire.

What/when/where: The American Cancer Society's Cattle Baron's Ball returns for 2008 at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 (a Saturday) at the Schuster Center Wintergarden in downtown Dayton. Why are they celebrating? To help fund the American Cancer Society's research, education, advocacy and service programs.

If you've seen [Baz Luhrmann]'s films, Australia is exactly the kind of story you'd expect, painted on a canvas the size of a continent. Actually, it's two of the kind of stories you'd expect.
