• Catherine Cribby, Hospital Supervisor, Ward Clerk 'Touched Many Lives'

Catherine Cribby, a retired supervisor at Maine Medical Center who served as ward clerk for many years at the Cummings Center on Munjoy Hill, died Tuesday. She was 80. Mrs. Cribby oversaw technical and transportation staff in central services, which processes instruments for the operating rooms and support areas at Maine Med and outside the hospital.

• Texas Jury Awards Widow $2 Million for Hospital's Fraud

A Texas jury has awarded the widow of a man who died while being treated in a hospital for kidney stones $2 million for fraud in obtaining her consent for her husband's autopsy. Jerry Carswell died an "unwitnessed, unexplained and unexpected" death at Christus St. Catherine Hospital in Katy, Texas, said his widow's lawyer, Carl D. Shaw, a partner at The O'Quinn Law Firm in Houston.
