Seven Technical Advisory Committees (TACs) advise the Department of Commerce on the technical parameters for export controls applicable to dual-use commodities and technology and on the administration of those controls. The TACs are composed of representatives from industry representatives, academic leaders and U.S. Government representing diverse points of view on the concerns of the exporting community. Industry representatives are selected from firms producing a broad range of goods, technologies, and software presently controlled for national security, non-proliferation, foreign policy, and short supply reasons or that are proposed for such controls, balanced to the extent possible among large and small firms. TAC members are appointed by the Secretary of Commerce and serve terms of...

We are superseding two existing airworthiness directives (AD). One existing AD is for Airbus Model A319, A320, and A321 series airplanes without Airbus modification 26017. That AD currently requires replacing the flight warning computers (FWCs). The other existing AD is for Airbus Model A320 and A321 series airplanes on which Airbus modification 24612 or Airbus Service Bulletin A320-31-1080 has not been accomplished. That existing AD currently requires revising the limitations section of the airplane flight manual. This new AD requires replacing both FWC units with certain FWC units. This AD was prompted by in-service events of thrust lever mismanagement and a manufacturer analysis on the failure to follow procedure or heed existing cockpit cues. The analysis of the thrust lever managem...

This research studies the strategies used by managers to cope with negative word of mouth. We investigated seven different coping strategies across French and North American managers. The results revealed that, for coping with negative word-of-mouth, managers evaluate as the most efficacious strategy that of increasing trust in the negatively discussed product, service, or company. The results also suggest that doing nothing is perceived as less effective than increasing trust or denying negative word of mouth. Finally, we find a high degree of similarity in the perceptions of the utility of negative word-of-mouth redress strategies across the two managerial cultures.

The Plain Dealer of Cleveland wrote a recent article on the IRS's shift to e-filing, explaining both the pros and cons of the plan and the sticky issues of making online tax preparation a genuine option for Americans. The IRS has studied this and lumped people into three categories: * People with no access to a computer or ability to use a computer * People who don't want to spend the money to file online * People who don't want to put their personal information in cyberspace The IRS is trying to manage the last two categories through incentive plans such as free online tax filing and public awareness campaigns about the security of e-filed returns, stating that it's "never had a security breach affecting e-filed returns." Yodlee, originally just a bank account aggregation tool, has n...
