My college career was set to a soundtrack of ABBA's greatest hits. The music of "Mamma Mia!" is an intrinsic part of my soul, and the cast of Broadway in Charleston's production brought it all back to life. A nearly sold-out crowd and a catalogue of well-loved favorites made this the perfect storm of musicals. With fantastic choreography and perfect vocals, each song could only be described as even more fabulous than the last.

Brothers peacock strutted their Whoa Mon (woman) into the Apollo Theatre to share a romantic Valentine's Day evening with the mi-tay (mighty) O'Jays. We've all seen them: women of a certain age dressed in purple and topped off with a bright red hat. The Red Hat Society offers women over 50 the chance to enjoy the ups and downs of life with like- minded women. What began in 1997 when a California woman gave a red hat to a friend on her 55th birthday has evolved into a worldwide social group with nearly 25,000 chapters. Cavalier Forest resident Irene Doxey has been a Red Hatter for six years. Her group meets monthly for lunch and enjoys the occasional day trip. As we entered the Nokia theatre the crowd was up and singing along with R&B artist Musiq Soulchild. To my surprise he wasn't as powerful as I thought he would be. I tried my best to enjoy his performance but his voice just didn't bring it home. Both my girlfriend and I wondered if his voice was hoarse or maybe even sick. Not that he sounded that bad but there were more than a few notes he didn't hit live that he hits on his albums. I also didn't like the fact that Muisiq stood in one spot the majority of his performance. It made me realize he was whispering too many lyrics.
