Teacher educators have a challenging task of preparing students to enter today's classrooms. Teacher educators in family and consumer sciences (FCS) face unique challenges due to the diversity of content that comprises the discipline. It is imperative that FCS teacher educators use effective instructional methods. This article describes the use of the case method in a teaching methodology course. An FCS teacher educator joins a master classroom teacher to help preservice teachers connect what is learned in the college classroom to authentic secondary classroom experiences.

The purpose of this study was to identify the key characteristics of a successful case discussion. The participants of this field-based case study were finance professors from Harvard Business School and the University of Virginia's Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, two top-ranked MBA programs that have used case discussion leadership as their primary philosophy of teaching and learning for many years. The methodology employed was a qualitative field study which utilized interviews of the finance professors, observations of case discussion courses, and analyses of relevant program documents. The AICPA Model Tax Curriculum is a method of teaching taxation that uses a case approach which follows the life cycle of an individual. The approach gives students a broader set of facts and view. Students have more responsibility for facts which allows the teacher to discuss deeper policy concerns. Businesses are also studied using the life cycle approach.

This study surveyed the professional needs of a randomly chosen 125 English language teachers from Amman (1st and 2nd ) directorates of education.
