• Funding Issues Could Delay Major Overhaul of Carl Vinson

NEWPORT NEWS Officials at Northrop Grumman Newport News are concerned that a major overhaul of the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson may be delayed because Congress has not approved funding for it. The carrier is supposed to come to Newport News next month for a three-year, $1.5 billion overhaul that includes mid life refueling of the ships two nuclear reactors. However, Congress has not approved the defense appropriations bill that includes money for the work.
