CINCINNATI - Drew Stubbs hit his first career homer leading off the 10th inning, giving the Cincinnati Reds a 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday.
Stubbs drove a 2-0 pitch from Bob Howry (1-6) off left-field foul screen to stop Cincinnati's five-game skid. The 2006 first-round pick was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday when Willy Taveras was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Jose Reyes threw his first career no-hitter to lead San Fernando to a 3-0 win over Roosevelt in the Tiger Classic baseball tournament Saturday.
The senior right-hander struck out nine and came close to a perfect game, only allowing walks in the second and fourth innings. Reyes also contributed at the plate, driving in one of the three runs.

CHICAGO - Francisco Liriano pitched the Major Leagues' first no- hitter of the season, throwing his first career complete game in the Minnesota Twins' 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday night.
Liriano (2-4) walked six and struck out two, throwing 123 pitches in the 95th Major League start for the 27-year-old left-hander.

Paul Bringgold will put the finishing touch on his 55-year career in banking with the sale of the First National Bank (Cannon Falls, Illinois) to Merchants Financial Group (Winona, Minnesota). The transaction is expected to close later this year, about the time Bringgold reaches the age of 80. Merchants Financial Group beat out 18 other bidders on the $120 million bank. The two groups were in negotiations for several months before the purchase agreement was finalized last month. Chairman, President and CEO Bringgold, who has owned the bank since 1965, said he is selling the bank to simplify his estate planning. Clarence junior Stephen Hughes kicked a 37-yard field goal as time expired to give the Red Devils a 31-28 victory over Orchard Park for the Class AA championship before an estimated 1,500 at Ralph Wilson Stadium.
