Rob Janssen, RN, BSN, CEN has assumed the position of chief nursing officer at Down East Community Hospital in Machias. Janssen joined DECH in 2010 as a nursing supervisor, and was promoted to nurse manager of the Emergency Department and Cardiac Rehabilitation shortly after arrival. He later became interim chief nursing officer in June 2011 when Karen Labonte left the position. Janssen is a 1990 nursing graduate of Georgian College in Barrie, Ontario. He has worked in hospitals in Ontario and North Carolina. He obtained his BSN from East Carolina University and then his Certification in Emergency Nursing. REDLANDS - Michelle Bruny presented a program about heart disease, especially as it affects women, when members of Andiamo met Jan. 10 at the home of Tracey Fisher. Bruny, a registered nurse and cardiac rehabilitation coordinator at Redlands Community Hospital, manages patients who have had heart attacks, bypass surgeries and stents.

Now that a new drug has been shown to dramatically reduce the risk of breast cancer in post-menopausal woman, a Normal nurse who participated in the study hopes to start taking it - for real this time. Karen Dodd learned on Monday that patients taking Exemestane reduced their risk of breast cancer by 65 percent with no serious side affects - then she learned she was one of the test subjects receiving a placebo, not the test drug. The library finished cataloging the Palms and their components for checkout in October 2004. This allowed us to track each Palm, find out how often the Palms were used, and verify who still had one checked out. I knew there would be lots of pieces and parts with the PDAs, so we created packets that included clear front pouches large enough to hold all of the materials that accompanied the Palms.
