  • In a recent case where Canisius College filed a lawsuit against The Vanguard Group, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York found no merit to the college's claim that Vanguard failed to comply with the terms of the prospectus. In granting Vanguard's motion to dismiss Canisius' breach of contract claim in Canisius College v. The Vanguard Group, U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny held that Canisius failed to comply with the terms of the prospectus since it did not make its redemption request five business days prior to the date it wanted to have the proceeds wired to its bank account.

  • The Canisius College Contemporary Writers Series presents a reading by and discussion with Stewart O'Nan at 7:30 tonight (Thursday) in the Grupp Fireside Lounge of the college's Richard E. Winter Student Center, located on 80 Hughes St. in Buffalo. The event is free and open to the public.   • BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Canisius College inducted Auburn resident Frederick C. Holler `57, MD into its DiGamma Honor Society on March 11, during a ceremony at The Buffalo Club. The prestigious honor society is composed of Canisius alumni, faculty, administrators and students who have distinguished themselves through exemplary service to the college, over an extended period of time. Holler, is a retired president/CEO of Medical Mutual Insurance Company of Maine, located in Portland. Holler established the Frederick C. Holler `57 Endowed Scholarship in 2007 and served on his 50th class reunion committee.

  • Western New York will add another varsity rowing team to its collegiate ranks in the fall, as Canisius has announced the addition of women's rowing with the program scheduled to begin competition next academic year. It marks the first time since 2003, when the school started men's swimming and diving, that Canisius has added a sport.

  • Canisius College added three more players to an already impressive recruiting class in junior college transfer Harold Washington, Central Florida transfer Isaac Sosa and Kevin Bleeker from Holland. The trio is part of a seven-man recruiting class, the largest ever signed by coach Tom Parrotta and his staff. The class includes center Freddy Asprilla, a transfer from Kansas State, forward Jose Agosto from Gatlinburg-Pittman, Tenn., guard Franklin Milian, from Our Savior New American on Long Island and forward Josiah Heath from Irondequoit.
