HAWORTH -- An injured Canada goose was rescued by animal control officers after it came to rest in the middle of a frozen pond on Monday afternoon.
The goose, which Haworth Fire Chief Ken Kiel said appeared to weigh between 10 and 20 pounds, had a leg injury that rendered the bird mostly immobile. Kiel said the goose likely chose the center of the pond, located off Haworth Avenue, as a safe haven from predators, such as coyotes or foxes.
