Holiday shoppers in Charleston hit stores in force Friday, many camping out all night. Others, though, didn't leave the comfort of their home to find deals.

North Jersey bargain shoppers have a new way to save money, not by camping outside stores or pushing through lines, but by relying on their fellow shoppers.
Groupon, a website that offers daily deals for local businesses, added North Jersey to its growing list of 150 cities worldwide. The site features a new local business every day for a deal, and subscribers can choose to buy the offer. In order for the deal to occur, enough people have to purchase it to reach the predetermined tipping point, and then the customers are e-mailed the coupon. The tipping point varies for each deal, ranging from about 20 people to 1,000.

TACOMA (AP) Some government officials are crusading to get cheap versions of medieval weapons off the shelves of local convenience stores because the appearance of collectible swords, crossbows and throwing stars is upsetting people who just want to buy a pack of gum.
The city's lawyers are having a difficult time, however, figuring out how to revise Tacoma's "dangerous weapons" ordinance to stop the stores from selling collectible swords without also making it illegal for grocery stores to sell bread knives or camping stores to offer hunting knives.

National retailer Camping World has succeeded in getting people across the country to help disaster victims. From Nov. 22 to Jan. 6, stores participated in the Holiday Disaster Relief program by displaying a Giving Tree. The in-store donations were then matched dollar for dollar by Camping World, resulting in a check for $15,710 being sent to the Red Cross.
Camping World has 41 retail locations and two collision repair centers, and offers 8,000 products geared toward camping aficionados through its retail stores, extensive mailing catalog and online shopping network. The company's repair centers have staff-trained professionals adept at installing or repairing any product purchased at Camping World stores.
