Choice's Cambria Suites spreads out
Choice Hotels International Inc. of Silver Spring, announced plans for new Cambria Suites hotels in White Plains, N.Y.; Washington, D.C.; and Houston. Meyer Jabara Hotels, a Danbury, Conn.- based hospitality company, is building a 130-room Cambria Suites in White Plains as part of a $47 million mixed-use development. In Washington, Concord Hospitality Enterprises of Raleigh, N.C., and D.C.-based Roadside Development LLC are partnering to erect a 182- room Cambria Suites as part of CityMarket at O, a $300 million mixed- use development located by the D.C. Convention Center. Concord Hospitality also is developing a 127-room Cambria Suites near the Houston airport.

Fund launched to aid lupus sufferersThe HealthWell Foundation of Gaithersburg, a nonprofit organization providing financial assistance to insured patients facing a variety of chronic and life- altering illnesses, announced the launch of a new fund supporting treatment for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the most common form of lupus. The fund provides copayment assistance to people living with lupus who are burdened by high-cost medications. Lupus is a serious autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks and destroys healthy tissue. The Lupus Foundation of America estimates that there are approximately 1.5 million Americans affected by all forms of lupus with more than 16,000 new cases diagnosed each year.

The state Department of Environmental Protection on Tuesday fined Johnstown-based McKelvey Oil Co. Inc., $145,000 for failing to comply with a prior order and ordered the company to stop operating above-ground storage tanks of home heating fuel at two facilities.
One of the facilities -- Gilbert Brothers Oil in Ligonier Township -- is a bulk fuel distributor with two tanks: one with a 75,000 gallon capacity and the other with a 128,000 capacity, according to a news release the DEP issued about the fine.

Allcare Dental is preparing to file for bankruptcy, as the now- closed dental services chain continues to cope with fallout from its abrupt shutdown.
Paul Cambria Jr., an attorney working with Allcare, said the company is close to filing for bankruptcy but did not know when it will occur. A different law firm is involved in the bankruptcy process, he said.
