Calyon Selects Asset Control for Data Management LONDON (HedgeWorld.com) - Calyon Corporate and Investment Bank, based in Paris, has selected Asset Control's data management platform AC Plus to centralize data management across its financial and commodities markets. Project finance activity worldwide has cooled significantly from the fever pitch of 2004, with China largely absent from the market so far this year but with activity still booming in the oil-rich countries of the Middle East. Overall global volume of project financing fell 7%, to $98 billion, in the first nine months of 2005 from $105 billion during the same period last year, according to Dealogic. TOKYO/SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Mizuho Securities shut down its money- losing prime brokerage business in Singapore due to worries it would keep eroding its capital, putting it at risk of losing its operating license, documents obtained by Reuters showed. The documents illustrate the difficulty Mizuho Securities, a largely domestic-focused Japanese brokerage, faces in its effort to become a pan-Asian equity powerhouse that can compete with the likes of Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and Deutsche.
