BANGOR and WATERVILLE - , formerly of Bangor and Waterville, died Nov. 22, 2011, at her home in Oakland, Calif., after a long illness. Karin was born Jan. 25, 1966, in Dexter, the eldest child of Fred S. Judkins II and Judith (Brown) Judkins.
She attended schools in Bangor and Waterville, and graduated from Waterville Senior High School in 1985, having completed her graduation requirements in just three years. After attending Colby College and traveling in Mexico and Europe, she studied at California State University, Hayward, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics with honors. ONCE again academic freedom gets a beating from the self- righteous. The latest instance was the threat of a commencement boycott issued earlier this month by a small group of professors and students at Hayward State, or as it's now known, California State University, East Bay.

I don't know what will happen Sept. 3 at the American Political Science Association Panel 3 under the theme "Is It Time to Call It Fascism?" But I would like to help Professor Dvora Yanow of California State University, Hayward, the panel chairman answer the panel's question: "Is there a theoretical-definitional grounding to make a claim for the present U.S. administration as fascist, and is it useful, critically, to use that language at this point in time?
