At California State University A new videoconferencing system will enhance program sharing between the California State University's (CSU's) Bakersfield and Sacramento campuses. GPT Video Systems and US Sprint donated $200,000 in equipment and services toward the new system. The system uses two GPT System 261 Universal Video Compression codecs. The codecs work at the CCITT H.261 standard for video communications at low data rates. The codecs work in the QCIF low-resolution mode and the CIF high-resolution mode. The CSU system will be used for regular classes, in-service training, academic and administrative meetings, distribution of videotape, and film materials and presentations by distinguished academics.
