The FCC has been ordered to conduct a study of the cable television broadcasting industry's rates which are rapidly increasing by as much as four times that of inflation rate. Subscribers are mad and consumers are seeking protection from the rate increases.

Discovery Communications' TLC channel is ending its two-month experiment as a "bi-coastal brand" after a memo this week from its president outlined plans to close operations in Silver Spring and consolidate everything in Los Angeles.
