HARRISBURG, Pa., March 15, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With the approach of spring and the increased risk of forest and brush fires across the state, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources today announced federal grants are available to help Pennsylvania's rural communities better guard against the threat of fires in forested, undeveloped and unprotected areas.
Warming temperatures, sunny days and strong winds quickly usher in wildfire dangers that emphasize the need to have well-trained and well-equipped local firefighting forces in rural areas," said Bureau of Forestry Director Daniel Devlin. "These men and women deserve nothing but the very best training and equipment that these grants help achieve.

Speaking of [Angie], [Letoya Luckett] makes a go at a character who is way too innocent for her age. Luckett is convincing and believable as Angie, but she's still annoying, in a good way. Tank's performance as [Devlin] is worthy of a few eye rolls. Tank can sing; no doubt about it. But he's such a weak actor that I now realize why there is only one scene in which he acts in the faux play in the film.
Clifton Powell as Ike is Angie's father away from home. In one scene, he's trying to give Angie sage advice. In another scene, he's treating her like trash. Obviously, [Foster] named the character Ike to show that he can be a tyrant of a show business producer, like his namesake, Mr. Turner. But Powell also gives him some needed humanity.
Also, some of the actors in should s...

An insurance company is being ordered to pay for injuries suffered by a stagehand, but the amount has been reduced to reflect policy coverage.
The insurance company, Essex Insurance Co., claimed coverage for Mark Dzielski of Erie County, the injured stagehand, was excluded in a policy provision pertaining to shows. Dzielski, who claimed his accident happened after the show and was not part of it, had been awarded $950,000 in a judgment entered Nov. 17, 2010, by Supreme Court Justice Diane Y. Naturally, they got what they paid for: Telasi was all but dilapidated, with shoddy records and a slew of illegal hookups to root through. Yet [Paul Devlin] doesn't simply hurl yet another chunk of anti-globalization agitprop into the mainframe. He's much too clear-eyed for that. With his primary focus not on the impoverished population but on the American cogs sent in to relieve this corporate migraine, Devlin charts the contradictory ways in which the two struggle together, each taking turns as the bad guy.

County jails and other correctional facilities could see more positions lost or unfilled next year if Gov. John Baldacci's latest budget plan, which flat-funds jails at $3.5 million, is adopted for the next fiscal year.
I don't know how many and where, but it would happen in (fiscal year 2011)," Kennebec County Administrator Robert Devlin said Friday. "If it looks like it's looming, we'll do what we did last time, which is not filling vacancies.
