FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The University of North Texas System Board of Regents today voted to approve a proposal to develop a new M.D. degree program at the UNT Health Science Center at Fort Worth (UNTHSC). The M.D. program will be an independent fifth school in addition to the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Public Health, and School of Health Professions. ELLSWORTH - The Washington Hancock Community Agency has been awarded a $150,000 loan and $37,500 grant from USDA Rural Development's Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program. Under the program, funds are provided to an intermediary who "re-lends" it to entrepreneurs and offers technical assistance. Piette] is the lead person of the start-up company SpaceForm, Inc. the new company is headquartered in TechTown, Wayne State's urban research and technology park located in the New Center Area. A Madison start-up has pulled in $500,000 of funding to develop an electrolyte that a group of high-level scientists thinks will make batteries and other storage devices much more efficient and safer. Built on the resource-based view of the firm, this study addresses two major research questions: (1) what resources are salient in entrepreneurial discontinuance; (2) To what extent, does the impact of resources on the odds of discontinuance vary across the nature of startup between high technology and non-technology? These questions are examined using 830 nascent entrepreneurs from the Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics (PSED). Overall, we find that not all resources are equally salient, especially when comparing technology-based and non-technology-based nascent entrepreneurs. Utah's rural small businesses may soon have a new source of funding for start-up and expansion costs. The Utah Business Lending Corp., a South Jordan-based nonprofit corporation, has received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development office for funding that will allow it to issue micro-loans between $10,000 and $50,000 to businesses outside the Ogden-to-Spanish Fork corridor.
