After Margaret Croom graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1987, she began a career in information technology.
Her career included working for IBM and EDS as she and her husband, Mike Croom, relocated several times when he was transferred in his job as an environmental health and safety engineer before they moved to Spokane, Wash. In relocating to different towns, including Houston, Margaret Croom, a graduate of Putnam City West High School, said she discovered that the local residents she met often did not know where to find the local stores - they just went to the mall.

Prudential Preferred Realty is now part of Brookfield Asset Management Inc., following the purchase by Brookfield of Prudential Financial Inc.'s real estate brokerage and relocation business unit for about $110 million.
The acquisition makes Brookfield Residential the second-largest relocation operation and third-largest residential real estate brokerage in North America, said Stephanie Slipher, a Brookfield spokeswoman. Included in the sale are 2,800 Prudential offices and 88,000 real estate agents. Most offices are operated under franchise agreements.

We're backing Hartz on this one. The EDA is right when it says Panasonic may move - the electronics giant apparently has been courting more suitors than Paris Hilton in its bid to leave the Meadowlands - but this goes against the mission of the Urban Transit Hub program, which was designed to encourage urban developers and tenants to make big capital investments in long-suffering cities.
Hartz argued the transit hub program isn't meant to retain companies threatening to leave the state - the function of the Business Retention and Relocation Assistance Grant program - and said $100 million is too much to surrender in this matter, particularly when an EDA estimate of the economic impact of retaining Panasonic has fallen from nearly $350 million to $222.8 million.
