Cassandra Fidler's job search has been frustrating. Fidler, a senior business management major at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, is fast approaching graduation. And despite sending out five resumes a day through online job searches, she hasn't had a nibble.
West Virginia University will conclude Mountaineer Week with the finale of Mountaineer Idol at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Morgantown Metropolitan Theatre on High Street. The competition began in early September with 16 finalists and has been narrowed down to the final three over the last two months. The top three contestants are sophomore biology major Patrick Garcia, sophomore business management major Ellis Lambert and sophomore finance major Chelsea Malone. Each performer will be singing three different songs (one from a previous performance, one the contestants have never performed before and one the hosts select) to showcase their talent and prove they are worthy of being the 2011 Mountaineer Idol.
BROOKVILLE -- Ashley Swink rode her first horse when she was 10 years old, "and when I got up in the saddle, it felt like home. I knew that's where I belonged. I knew that's what I wanted to do the whole rest of my life. Swink, a straight-A Brookville High School student, wanted to be involved with horses, and next fall she will enroll at the University of Kentucky and study equine business management.
The celebration had a capacity crowd of over 500. Honored at the anniversary luncheon was Zeta of the Year, Zamelia Doswell and the Woman of the Year, Rev. Delores Lakey-Stewart. The Woman of the Year, Rev. Delores Lakey-Stewart is an educator, and in that capacity she has been department chair, career counselor, helped others with professional writing, poetry, vocal and instrumental expertise. Rev. Lakey-Stewart has been saluted by many organizations, has written poems to local and national acclaim, is the author of two books of poetry and is writing a book of church skits adapted to the African American church. In reflecting on the history of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, it is based on the precepts of Finer Womanhood, Scholarship, Service and Sisterly love. Alpha Psi Zeta chapter felt that...

Missouri wrestler Nathan McCormick was named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association Individual All-Academic Team. Missouri's 133-pounder qualified for the NCAA Championships and finished the season with a 22-16 record. The Leawood, Kan., native is a business management major.
