On July 18, Oscar Worthy, vice chairman of the chamber, made a special presentation to [Shawn Hicks] at a special chamber breakfast meeting. After nine years of going to school in the evenings, Hicks earned a B.S. in business management from Point Park University. Worthy presented Hicks with a leather portfolio from Oscars LTD, filled with a financial acknowledgement from the chamber members in attendance.
The elder Mike Guare died in 2008, but the restaurant continues to offer some of his fan favorites, including the Cafe Burger, a half-pound burger with grilled onions and peppers topped with mozzarella cheese on Texas toast. Graduated from Mississippi State University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in business management; received his master's degree in business administration in 2006 from MSU.

Melvin F. Pauly of Snyder, an executive with the Courier-Express and Bee Newspapers, died Wednesday in Kenmore Mercy Hospital. He was 86. Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Canisius College, where he earned a business management degree.
