A proposal to lease Memorial Health System to the University of Colorado Hospital faced no objections at City Council Monday, and council will vote Tuesday on whether to move forward with negotiations.
In December, University of Colorado Hospital's proposal was unanimously recommended by of the Memorial task force that sought and reviewed five bids for the city-owned hospital. Monday was the first time the full council heard the recommendation.

Concerned about the impact of dramatically increased parking rates on neighborhood business districts, Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak is suggesting 10 changes to Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's proposal to lease the city's parking assets.

HCA-HealthOne is offering more than $500 million to lease city- owned Memorial Health System, according to a proposal the company released Monday.
In addition to a $500 million up-front payment, the for-profit operator of seven hospitals in Denver, and an arm of a nationwide hospital chain, is also offering to let the city keep all of Memorial's cash on hand, about $332 million, and pledging a minimum of $1 billion of capital investment at the hospital over the life of the lease.
