WILDWOOD - An armed man who led police on a weekend high-speed chase through southern New Jersey before barricading himself on the roof of a garage ended the standoff by shooting himself to death, authorities said.
Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor said the man, identified as Joseph Esposito, 38, of New Haven, Conn., was pronounced dead about 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital in Cape May Court House.

PRINCETON, N.J., June 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The New Jersey Hospital Association today celebrated the completion of an intensive two-year initiative to improve the quality of care in hospital intensive care units with some dramatic results: a potential for 216 deaths averted, thanks to greatly reduced instances of pneumonia and bloodstream infections.
The results were announced today during a daylong learning session and celebration at the Hyatt Regency Princeton to wrap up the initiative. A total of 35 hospitals participated in "The NJHA Collaborative to Improve Quality of Care and Patient Safety in the ICU," part of the NJHA Quality Institute.
