A sagging roof today forced the evacuation of a state government building in Jefferson City housing 570 employees of the Department of Health and Senior Services.
The weight of about 20 inches of snow raised concerns when the roof was inspected this morning, said Emily Smith, spokeswoman for the Office of Administration. After a preliminary inspection showed the roof was sagging, a more through analysis determined that the building should remain unoccupied until the snow is removed and a complete structural evaluation is completed, she said.
