FORT LEE -- The borough, facing budget pressures, has decided to bill insurance carriers for clients' ambulance rides. The program, called third-party billing, is slated to start at the beginning of December, Mayor Mark Sokolich said.
Customers of Dayton Power and Light Co. and Duke Energy Ohio are receiving big electric power bills after a summer of searing heat that kept air conditioners running overtime. DP&L residential customers used about 30 percent more electricity this summer than last summer and are seeing bill increases in that same range, company spokeswoman Lesley Sprigg said. The increased consumption for June through August is showing up in the August billing adjustment for customers who participate in the utility's budget- bill program to spread out energy costs over the year, she said. EAGLE MOUNTAIN -- City officials have developed and just began taking applications for an equal payment plan for utility bills in order to help keep residents' budgets in check. Residents who are in good standing with the city and have lived in their same residence for at least 12 months will be eligible for the program that they are calling Budget Billing.
