  • , 66, of Washington, D.C., entered into eternal rest and peace, Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at Greater Southeast Community Hospital. A native of Brunswick County, she was born Dec. 30, 1941, to the late Talf Fields Sr. and Lucy Rhodes Fields. At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Hickory Run Baptist Church, Rawlings, Va. While in her 20s, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she united with Jericho Baptist Church.

  • Clara Evelyn Batts, 87, of 218 Brunswick Village Drive, Lawrenceville, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, March 26, 2007 at the Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill. She was a native of McKenney and the daughter of the late James Edward and Harriet Evelyn Cooper Batts. At early age she joined the Big Bethel Baptist Church. Sister Clara spent most of her adult life in Brooklyn, New York and joined the Prince of Peace Pentecostal Church where she served on the usher board for many years. She was a retired nurse's aide at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical in Brooklyn. Sister Clara will always be remembered for her great since of humor and her quite spirit.
