Help county's veterans
To the editor -- In this time of giving, please don't forget to give to Yakima County Veterans Programs. Veterans are forgotten about most of the year with the exception of Memorial Day and Veterans Day. When you are thinking of donating, please give a thought to the Yakima County Veterans Program, headed by Dave Brown. They're at the Yakima County Courthouse downtown on North Second Street. A lot of the veterans who get help from Dave are homeless. Yakima County Veterans Program could use donations of food, winter clothing (gloves, hats, socks, etc.), personal hygiene products (soap, shampoo, deodorant, etc.), as well as gift cards.

On Friday, Republican Tim Burns, a businessman from Eighty Four, campaigned at the Washington County Courthouse alongside Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, the upstart Republican who surprised both parties when he won the late Sen. Ted Kennedy's seat this year.
