Brighton Town Court justice, author, Monroe Community College professor and Girl Scout leader Karen Morris said she started reading J.K. Rowling's famous series because she likes to stay informed about the things that interested both students and Scouts alike.
The more she read, however, the more interested she became in the books -- and now she's combined 's world with the legal world in a book released last week called "Law Made Fun Through 's Adventures: 99 Lessons in Law from the Wizarding World for Fans of All Ages.

KETTERING -- Monday's news that an auto parts design company may build a $21 million facility in Kettering continues the positive momentum for the Miami Valley Research Park, a 1,250-acre cluster of advanced technology companies straddling Kettering and Beavercreek.
BWI Group, a Chinese designer and producer of chassis, brake and suspension systems, could consolidate 130 jobs from the Research Park, 76 from Moraine and about 100 more from Brighton, Mich., in a new 167,000-square-foot building south of Research Boulevard and across from College Drive.

About 250 people turned out March 30 for the Moneta Garden Club's fashion show and luncheon. Among those attending was Elene Combs, president of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, at Trinity Ecumenical Parish. Fashions were provided by Carter Bates of Lynchburg. The event also included door prizes and a production of "I Am Herbert" by Will and Mary Hockersmith. Proceeds from the event will go to the club's scholarship program, which will help a middle-school student attend nature camp and a high-school senior who plans a horticulture-related major attend college. The financial disclosures were made as a pair of polls released Tuesday show Republicans leading Democrats in high-profile races. A Quinnipiac University poll found Corbett of Shaler leading Onorato of Brighton Heights 54 percent to 39 percent among likely voters. A Franklin & Marshall College poll had U.S. Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper, D- Erie, trailing challenger Mike Kelly, R-Butler, 44 percent to 38 percent.

LEWISTON ? , R.N., 87, of Auburn and formerly of South Paris died Sunday, Aug. 8, with loved ones by her side at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Brighton, Boston, Mass., March 4, 1923, the daughter of Oswald and Elsie (Schneider) Naas. She graduated from Brighton High School, Class of 1940 in Brighton, Mass., and Simmons College School of Nursing Class of 1945 in Boston, Mass., and had attended Boston University School of Nursing in the master's program.
