A correctional officer who accepted a $10,000 bribe to smuggle tobacco into a High Desert prison was sentenced Monday to two years in federal prison.
Justin Morrow, 32, of Victorville pleaded guilty in August to one count of bribery of a public official.

A Fort Carson major who worked as a U.S. Army contracting officer in Afghanistan and Iraq has been charged with accepting bribes from two foreign nationals whose companies were awarded contracts.
Roderick D. Sanchez of Fountain was charged in U.S. District Court in Denver Tuesday with one count of bribery of a public official. If convicted, Sanchez could face up to 15 years in prison plus a $250,000 fine.

IT was early December 2008, and my favorite sister (OK, she's my only sister) and I had seats on a bus trip from the Valley to New York City to see the Christmas lights and store windows. Lauretti.
The existence of the probe had been common knowledge for about eight months at that time.
