The Knox Mill Center in downtown Camden will have a new tenant beginning Friday, May 2, with the opening of the new Brevetto Kitchen and Wine Bar. Josh Hixson, co-owner of Sage Market, also in Camden, will unveil his latest venture this weekend in the multiuse retail and condo space. Brevetto will feature fine wines and artisanal beer from the Market, with more than 20 wines offered by the glass, and several offered as quartinos, or one-third of a bottle. According to Hixson, the entire Italian-influenced menu will be priced under $20, with small, medium and large plates lending a tapas-style feel. Vegetarian meals continue to grow in popularity, and the upcoming Maine Restaurant Week is a perfect example. This year, at least 29 of the participating restaurants plan to offer one or more entrees centered on vegetables and cheese rather than meats and seafood.
According to Maine Restaurant Week organizer Jim Britt, more restaurants are serving vegetarian menu options than they did last year, which was the first year of the event.

CAMDEN - Midcoast Magnet is hosting a gathering titled "Social Network ... In Real Life" for people living and working in Knox and Waldo counties tonight from 5:30 to 8:30 at Brevetto Kitchen and Wine Bar at 43 Mechanic St.
More than 60 people have come out for the first two events to socialize, network, eat and hear some good music.

CAMDEN - Friends of the Watershed Community School donated 64 items, ranging from a one-week cottage stay on Matinicus Island to private lessons in French, Latin or writing, for the annual spring auction.
Held at the new Brevetto Restaurant at the former Knox Mill, the auction featured chamber music by violinists Josie and Sophie Davis, students at the school. Auctioneer Phil Crossman, author of "Always Happens," sold the items.
