I have spent my professional career at Argonne National Laboratory researching nuclear power, and I would like to add to what was said in the TH article April 11. There are other options to nuclear power beyond the present light water reactor plants now in operation. The breeder reactor, which actually predates the present designs, can produce more fuel than it consumes, and thus greatly extend the operating life of fission systems from 80 years to several hundred years.
