Niagara University is mourning the loss of one of its own, after a student was gunned down during a botched robbery in an off- campus apartment.
Authorities identified the victim as Brandon Johnson, 20, a junior accounting major from Rochester.

LAS VEGAS, N.M. -- The third and final suspect sought in the recent killing of a Long Beach teen was arrested by New Mexico authorities and will be turned over to the Long Beach Police Department, it was announced Thursday.
Brandon Johnson, 22, a former of University of Washington football player who moved to Las Vegas, N.M. area area within the past week to play for Highlands University, was arrested Wednesday, officials said.

SAN DIEGO - A former University of San Diego star basketball player, along with another former player and former assistant coach, was charged with running a sports betting business to affect the outcome of games, federal authorities said Monday.
The indictment names Brandon Johnson, the school's all-time leading scorer who finished his college career last year, Thaddeus Brown, an assistant coach at the school in the 2006-07 season, and Brandon Dowdy, who played at USD in the 2006-07 season and at the University of California, Riverside, from 2008 to 2010. Seven other people were also charged.

Getting guns off the street and stopping violence in the city has taken on a more urgent tone after a Niagara University student was fatally shot last week in a botched robbery at an off-campus apartment.
Members of SNUG -- guns spelled backward -- were joined by police and community leaders Thursday afternoon outside the apartment in University Court where Brandon Johnson, 20, of Rochester, was killed Dec. 8.
