Musical Notes
IT'S Germany at the start of the 18th century and the Marquis of Brandenburg has possibly the finest private orchestra in the country. What he does not have is the finest collection of music for these great musicians to play. So he sends a message to Germany's finest Kapellmeister, composer and organist, Johann Sebastian Bach.

Chamber music is classical music's more intimate side -- a smaller ensemble, a smaller venue -- and, often, a sense of collaboration among friends.

In the couple of years that David Cho has been the Utah Symphony's assistant conductor, he hasn't had many opportunities to do much other than pops.
On Thursday, however, he'll be on the podium as the Utah Symphony Chamber Orchestra plays three of J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concertos. (The remaining three will be performed in May.) Due to a wrist injury, Jason Hardink will not perform the harpsichord for the concert. He will be replaced by Mark Kroll.
